A Second Chance

Chase cheated on Jessie. Jessie and Chase were dating for over 2 years and they did everything together. They lived together, ate together, slept together and most importantly were happy together. They had a perfect relationship, but even that is not enough to beat the power of temptation. Chase decided to be unfaithful to Jessie on a night out with his friends.

Chase felt absolutely horrible, It was a drunken mistake that meant nothing to him. He decided to tell Jessie the following day. Jessie was destroyed, she thought that her and Chase were locked in, she never could have believed that he would do something like that to her.

Jessie decided to go to her mothers house to talk to her and ask for advice on what to do. “Why would he do such a thing?” Jessie’s mom said. Jessie and her mother had a long conversation and had to dig deep to find out how much Jessie truly cared about Chase and if she wanted to forgive him due to his intoxication. Meanwhile Chase was alone at home feeling like he was stuck in a hole of sadness and guilt. He had begged Jessie for forgiveness that morning, fallen on his knees and cried to Jessie pleading for her forgiveness, and had been calling and texting her all day, to no response.

Jessie wanted to forgive him but it was hard and she could not stop picturing the image of Chase with another woman. After a while of Jessie staying at her mother’s house, Chase decided he was done grieving and he was going to get Jessie back. He realized if he truly loved Jessie with his entire being he was gonna win her back. He showed up to Jessie’s mothers house with flowers, her favorite foods, and a written out letter telling Jessie how much he loves her and how he doesn’t want to lose the most important thing in the world to him. She was taken by surprise and broke down in tears by how Chase hadn’t given up hope and had truly shown her that she was the only person who mattered to him. She gave him a second chance.

HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR

HAR HAR HAR HAR HAR

BY JACK

All years of his work had amounted to a final casual grip of the leather on his car’s wheel, papers in his other angry and desperate fist. Matthew sat in the comfortable, unburdened seat of his old-styled Cadillac, which was matte as the sky above his buzzing head. He kicked the car up into consciousness, twisting the keys into the grasp of the vehicle’s mouth and, without skipping a beat, forcing the gas pedal against the roughed-up carpeted ground.

***

My theories. Today they’ll make sense. Proper sense. I’ll find the body of the murderer, who rotted years ago. Years ago. I’ll find him.

The building looked born of rusted chain, painted and covered brick and termite-infested wood. Its entrance was free and unchained, and the door wide open–which would’ve been a perfect sight, if sawdust’s offspring hadn’t lined the monochromatic floor below, and if tumbled and toiled down wasn’t the ceiling.

As if it were open for business, Matthew steadied the tie in his jet black dress shirt. He stepped, inches away from his ajar, silver-lined Cadillac door, kicking up gravel and decades-old dust while he walked.

It’s been 20 years since the location shut down for the last time. If he truly died in the restaurant, a locked or boarded room would be the most likely. I doubt the entirety of the place has caved in if it were held up by souls.

Shoving aside a caved-in roof with a kick of his boots, the detective made his way in. There would be no ceiling above him but he was sure that this assumable dining area would be the only spot where things went to hell. The rigid, uncertain bendings of the caved roof promised that he was definitely stepping over tables–and probably animatronics. He searched, staring over the terrain he walked to come to… a rather deranged conclusion.

Well, I’ll have to break a way in myself.

Matthew clambered back to where he’d started, his dress shoes damn near clearing him dead with a slip down the building before he was able to steady himself with a quick lucky shove forward of his stomach. He recalled it raining hysterically the night prior, and determined that rain must have gathered by the building’s cusp.

He wasn’t incorrect but it wouldn’t have assisted him greatly in kicking through the building’s ceiling–nevertheless, with as much force as he could, the man had struck his ground in. His knees ached from both the drive to the old Freddy’s and covering the crooked-tooth of a ground, and yet, like a hivemind, his energy simply worked to chip at it like instinct.

Though it had taken him a good deal of the time he’d have rather spent investigating, under his feet came down the ceiling. Apparently Matthew wasn’t sure of his own strength, because its faux sediment caved in landslide-like. The detective, despite his quite uncalled for tumble, simply pulled his flashlight from its holster first, before he’d bother to stand.

A quick shake of it and the light woke up without a fuss. Matthew didn’t regret caving the roof in–it was very easy now to see what was under the hole he’d created, under the dank moonlight. Though, what he could see didn’t excite him as much as he’d hoped.

The crushed, greening forearm of a robot had been suffocating under the tile’s debris. The gross paw was outstretched, and had let go of half a shattered plate, which looked made of perishing metal. The broken bits from it were scattered close, but like a puzzle, some pieces were forever missing.

Chica, the detective had pondered to his lonesome, you’re not at all what I’m looking for.

On the paw he shone his light but very quickly it was redirected to the left, and he nearly jumped. It was not the skeleton of a robot, but rather, of a person.

But Matthew had seen much more than what should’ve been his share of bodies, and more often, bones. The body stank of dead and orange still clung like a bat to parts of its frame, particularly the crushed skull and in large clumps in its ribcage. A huge piece of ceiling had nestled in where the skull’s lobe would’ve, and at that, Matthew shuddered. He hadn’t expected a body in here–well, he very, very much did, but not at all in such a boring place. He refused to believe this was the killer.

The detective stepped to the body. He didn’t plan on investigating it. Matthew wanted to go around this body, because if the layouts he’d figured out in his head were right, the real killer would have been through this wall.

And the wall he slipped behind was dank–dank as if it was currently raining sewage, because by God, it may have just been the corpse but it stank! Matthew wished he’d brought a gas mask, but knew he never would’ve thought it necessary.

The whole dead restaurant was potent as a gas fire, where the overwhelming stench was body. But, thinking of that was much better than thinking of how easily Matthew could’ve been crushed between the thin gap separating him from the still-falling ceiling. The wall on his fingers was cold, and felt obviously of an old popcorning roof. If the flashlight was right, it was white, dappled with flecks of a gray or black. Perfect for a children’s place where nobody would look up. The flooring must have been flashier.

Matthew nearly tumbled backward. He would’ve avoided it if he turned around. His shoulder blades kicked inward, and the rest of him twisted around to face the opposite direction. He thought he may have dropped his light, he couldn’t tell with the numbness in his fingers and throat.

Coughing.

What?

Matthew must have coughed in his search for the light.

He panicked, but he didn’t really know how to react to the surge of air in his stomach without collapsing. His hands scrambled against the ground for a warmer plastic, something that had been in those hands just seconds ago, ANY kind of LIGHT?
The detective knew it wasn’t him who coughed, because it coughed again, and the voice sounded hollow, full of dried marrow, if that were any way to describe a thing like what he’d heard. It took the noise you’d expect from a deserted, dead mouth which hadn’t swallowed its own saliva in decades. Matthew couldn’t find a hint of life in that voice.

So he decided to do just that. Silently, yet, very admittedly to himself, he gulped. He couldn’t be to blame for that.

“I,…”

With desperation, he gripped the light off the ground. But by the time the gravel had left the voice’s lungs Matthew couldn’t flick it on in time or bend back onto his feet.

“Always..”

Maybe he just thought that time had slowed, but in this instance it felt particularly difficult to simply stuck his nail under the light and click it on. As soon as the bright had managed, and fast as Mat turned around…

“Come… back.”

A Very Hungry Martin

A Very Hungry Martin

There was a big hungry looking guy named Martin. On Tuesday he decided to message Diego, a friend that liked competing for money. They both met up and walked to Burger King. Later that day, Diego and Martin noticed lots of traffic. So they both decided to run the traffic and Martin almost got hit by a truck. Martin made it out with just a scratch since he fell. They quickly ran inside the burger king they were near and they got their money out in a blink of an eye. Martin ordered 8 piece nuggets, a bacon king burger, 2 drinks, hershey pie, and a rodeo burger with fries. And Diego got the chicken fries with a bacon cheeseburger with fries. Martin told Diego to choose a table, once Diego chose the table they began to look through their bags. Martin betted 300 bucks on who would finish eating first. The Pepsi was gurgling down Diego and spat out, He accepted the offer and began to unwrap the burger he bought. Martin took two of Diego’s chicken fries and dipped them into the zesty sauce. Diego ate all of his chicken fries and started to eat the bacon cheeseburger. While at it, Martin began to put fries on his burger and after he did that, he gobbled it in 4 bites. Martin demanded Diego to get more with his 40 bucks he gave him with a response “order anything but ranch!” he demanded. Diego went to the cashier and ordered an impossible whopper, onion rings, double stacker king, french toast sticks, and fries. Which cost 21.45$ so he just kept the change. While Diego walked up to the table, Martin snatched the bag and looked pissed off. He saw that there was a ranch packet in his bag and he immediately walked up to the ‘employees only room’ and all you would hear was loud banging and smacking. Someone dialed 911 and as soon they called, Martin and Diego ran out with 5 burger king bags Martin stole from the employees only room. Then all of a sudden Martin’s mom called and picked both of the boys up with a beating.                    The end

Winter

Winter 1

I looked out my window and realized it was snowing. The snowflakes are coming down slowly, seeing big flakes and small ones right there in front of me. I stared at the snow for about an hour. I walk downstairs to get some chocolate and start to watch the snow again

Winter 2

I start going outside as I realize how cold, but beautiful it is. I start heading to the coffee shop to get my hot chocolate. As I arrive, I look at all of the families bundled up in their coats, hats and gloves and realize how nice it is. I grab my hot chocolate, my chocolate croissant, and  sit down to enjoy them

Short Stories

A second chance

“Why?” she asked.

“Why should I give you a second chance?” looking at Ava’s arms crossed on the porch swing, she’s right.

I don’t deserve another chance.

“I know I messed up. I just want our friendship back, I will never take your things again” I said.

“Okay. You get one more chance” Ava replied.

The promise

Ever since Ava was a little girl she’s believed in keeping promises.

“Ava I promise I will never betray you again,” I said.

I would never do anything to betray her. She let me drive her car to go get food. I crashed her car…

She’s going to hate me.

“I hate you,” Ava said.

The Adventures of Captain Jackoleta And Beans

The storms aggravated the sea. Waves crashed up and down upon the Ferret. The ship swayed from side to side, close to tipping into the black void of the sea. Beans ran down from the crow’s nest, banana in hand. This banana, however, was not a normal banana. It, unlike most, came from the secret island of Banoragnte. Defined by its orange skin wrapped around a silky, sweet fruit.

Beans continued his panicked run into the captain’s quarters where one could find the captain of the so-mentioned mighty ship.

Jackoleta sat in a broad chair, entrusted with a velvety red fabric running through the chair’s dark wooden frame. A desk lay in front of the captain. Its edges lined with gold, it was clearly just a bragging right for all the riches Jackoleta had. She spun a quill in her hand, and a  pile of ink lay in front of her sloped into mildly legible words.

Beans, bananas still in hand, climbed up the desk and sat on the spilled ink, black covering his tail as he held the banana up to his master.

“What be this Beans,” the captain said.

Beans, for he was a monkey and couldn’t talk, pointed to the sea through a large window covering the back wall of the room. Jackoleta turned her head to see the raging ocean still pushing her ship around.

“The ocean ya say Beans.”

The monkey nodded.

“ So yer telling me that you found a floatin’ banana, a floating orange banana whilst you was up in the crow’s nest.”

The monkey nodded again.

“This, Beans… This means me ship be close to the one and only Banoragnte.”

Jackoleta jumped out of her seat, her short auburn hair bouncing as she got up. The ship continued to sway back and forth sending the Captain flying each time as she struggled to open the door.

She called through the pounding rain for Jeremy, the boy who was meant to be in the crow’s nest, but alas it seemed the boy had run under the deck for protection.

Jackoleta smiled knowing she would prefer to do things herself anyway, regardless of the fact that she could easily be thrown off the ship if she went on deck. She pursued her idea and climbed the masts to the crow’s nest. Once at the top, her brown eyes peered down at the water where she could see hundreds of orange bananas floating on the surface of the sea.

The captain cheered from her spot “ The Banana’s Beans!”

In an instant, the Monkey joined Jackoleta, perched on her shoulder. The captain pulled out her telescope and looked into the foggy distance in hopes of finding land.

Thunder continued to cover the sky. Sudden bursts of wind appeared and Jackoleta turned just in time to see one of the masts snap in half. It crashed through the ship, almost splitting it in two as the wooden pole rolled into the sea. A small fire had started at the edges of the broken floor and pirates flooded out of the gally onto the deck.

The wind continued to grow stronger, pushing the ship onto its beaten side. Beans held tight to Jackoleta’s white blouse, while the captain grasped onto the surrounding ropes. She gracefully slid down one until her feet hit the wet deck. Screaming crewmates surrounded her as the sails of the ship started to rip. The captain opened her rosy lips to give out orders, but before she had the chance to release a sound a wave crashed down on the ship, submerging the brown body of the Ferret.

Beans awoke, he found himself still gripping the captain’s shoulder. Jackoleta, covered in sand, lay in a deep sleep. The monkey released his grip and looked at the area around him. There was no sight of any of the crew, all that was around him was a calm sea, and swaying palm trees basking in the bright sun.

The captain stirred in her sleep. Beans, knowing the captain’s tendency to sleep in, took this opportunity to find a stick and whack the captain on the head. She bolted up, arrogance in her eyes.

“Beans” she groaned “ I do not need your help to wake!”

The monkey, knowing that wasn’t the truth, pointed toward the palm trees. Behind them, a forest seemed to be beyond the trees.

Jackoleta rose from her spot, leaving an imprint of her body in the hot sand.

“Follow me,” she said to the monkey.

The two walked into the woods, Jackoleta muttering ideas of what to do next. Finally, Jackoleta started pacing.

“No ship, no crew,” she turned to Beans, “ just me… and you. Of course, I’m the one stuck with a monkey.”

Beans scowled at her as she stopped pacing to stand on a tall rock she had found. A glimmer appeared in her eye as she reached up to grab something in a tree. Of course, in interest, the monkey climbed up the rock and sat by his master’s feet waiting to be addressed.

The captain looked down into Bean’s eyes, “The orange banana, it’s in this tree… in all these trees. Beans this means we are on the island of Banoragnte, and that means that the island’s mysterious treasure is ours.”

Jackoleta struggled (being average height) to reach the bananas. Beans could have easily gotten it for her, but the captain had a tendency not to ask for help. In another attempt to grab the fruit Jackoleta jumped, but as she landed on the rock, she lost her footing and fell to the mossy ground.

The captain grunted in pain as she stood, bearing most of her weight on her stronger ankle. Beans glared at her without a drop of sympathy.

“Alright ya stupid monkey, help me get the banana,” the captain gritted her teeth as she said the words.

Beans, although having been addressed in an unpleasant manner, climbed up the tree and easily grabbed the banana, mainly glad that Jackoleta had finally asked for his help.

“Alrighty Beans,” Jackoleta said as Beans handed her the orange banana, “Let us go get this treasure.”

As the two traversed the muddy woods again a duck appeared from a clearing.

“ I can lead you to the treasure,” he said as a wide smile appeared on his face.

Jackoleta turned to her monkey, her face painted with the joy of sudden luck.

Love Is An Enemy

It’s been about six years since my parents passed away. I got a random call from the police one day to inform me that they were murdered inside their home. I was left devastated- crying my eyes out until there was nothing left inside me. I would never leave the house and had no energy.

Throughout those years, I met my husband Andrew, through our mutual friend. We went on dates: to movies, the park, and the beach. I adored how sympathetic and reassuring he made me feel. He was a real romantic fellow that I couldn’t help myself, but to fall in love with him. We started dating for about 3 years, until he decided to propose – he stood on one knee as he asked my parents for permission to allow him to marry me and told them how much he’ll protect me, even when they’re not here with me right now. I gladly accepted his proposal. I knew he was the right person at the right moment for me.

We prepared for the wedding. And then three months later, we got married and had our honeymoon, at a resort near the beach- where we had our first date.

After two years of being happily married, we still loved each other. However; that changed. One day, as my husband was taking a shower. I heard his cell phone ringing – NONSTOP. So I decided to investigate it. I answered the phone, it was an incoming call from a woman named Catherine.

“Hello,” I said.

But there was no answer. “Your husband isn’t who you think he is”, she said.

“What? I don’t understand what you’re talking about, “I replied.

And then the call ended. After my husband got out of the shower, I decided to ask him, “Who’s Cathrine? She was calling you nonstop.”

“Oh. She’s my cousin. She’s probably asking to meet up, since we last saw each other, “ he responded.

At first, I thought to myself. Maybe he’s cheating on me. NO. He isn’t that type of person. I know who he is. I couldn’t get these nonstop thoughts out of my head, until I decided to investigate. When he informed me that he was going to go visit his cousin. I decided to stalk him – secretly. He arrived at a motel and there was a woman. They were kissing. On the lips. My heart started to hurt. The pain. I just wanted it to be a dream. I had to get myself together. They entered the motel room. I decided to go to the office to go tell them that I had forgotten my key to my room. I didn’t want to look suspicious, so I also said.

“I’m here with my husband. We’re on a date.” I said.

“That’s great. Here is your key. Have a great time,” the worker replied.

The worker didn’t suspect anything. I inserted the key. And I stormed inside. Andrew stood frozen.

“What are you doing here?”, he said angrily.

“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?” I screamed.

I looked at the bed. There were pictures laid out. But it was not just any pictures. It was my parents. I grabbed them and scanned them. One image to the next. The next image showed my parents being tied up onto their bed, with blood on their face.

“WHO ARE YOU?”

Trip To Cabo

Trip To Cabo

Looking out the window seeing all the houses and cars that now look like toys. “I am above the clouds” a little boy next to you shouts. You ignore all the annoying people and sound near you because all you can think about is the fact that you are headed to paradise and for a full week. You will not have to think about anything stressful.

Three hours later your plane finally lands in dallas texas. Not quite as exciting as Cabo, but we are almost there. Looking around for your gate and seeing a person in shorts and a tropical shirt you know that you’re in the right section. It gets loud in the airport. A kid screams because they are hungry and a man runs as fast as he can so he doesn’t miss his flight. Chaotic, but what keeps you going is that you know you get to go to Cabo soon. The best vacation because it’s just a huge beach. Tropical drinks, good food, nice people, and beautiful water.

Soon they start boarding. Heading through the grey tube then seeing the plane. You enter the door, but not without touching the planes side. Finding you seat was nice because you know that your first class.Getting your airpods out and laying back as the pilot gets ready for take off. Its happening officially getting ready to go to Vacation. One you have looked forward to all year. You have saved up for a good seat.

“We have just landed” says that flight attendant. You suddenly wake up from your sleep. And rush off the plane. It’s Cabo!!

The Exam

It was 8:30 on a cold, Friday, winter morning. Jim jumped out of his bed with confidence. He has been studying all week for the big exam today. He got a good breakfast of waffles, bacon, and eggs that his mom made him. He ate, thanked her, and ran out to his car. He started it up, defrosted the windshield, and sped off to the school.

He got there and quickly jumped into the line of people waiting to be let in. The time was 8:50. He was 40 minutes early. He could see everyone’s breath in the wind, due to the below freezing temperature they were all standing in. The line slowly shrunk as the people were getting let in. As Jim got closer to the doors, he saw his friend Jake. “Hey Jake! Are you ready for the final exam?” He exclaimed. “Not at all man. I was at a party last night and didn’t get home until 1. I tried to study, but it was really late so I went to sleep.” Jake said, worrily. “I’m sure you will be alright.” said Jim, clearly lying because he knew this was the hardest test they will take all year.

They both walked into the school, then into the room they would be taking their test. There had to have been 500 desks lined up in a certain pattern so that nobody could cheat. “Best of luck to you Jake.” said Jim. “You too Jim.” Jake said in an unenthusiastic tone. They both went to their assigned desks. The bell rang loudly as the clock hit 9:30. The teacher walked around and passed out the test.

Jim immediately rushed through the first page, getting through every question with ease. Jake on the other hand, couldn’t figure out how to answer one question. The 3 hour testing period passed, and the teacher announced, “Everybody put down your pencils, the test is over. I will be coming around to collect all of your tests.”

As the teacher passed Jim she asked, “How was it?” Jim confidently replied, “That was the easiest test that I have ever taken!” As the teacher approached Jake’s desk she says, “Please hand in your paper Jake.” There was no answer. Jake fell asleep midway through the test. She swoops up the paper and notices that not one of the questions was attempted.

A few weeks later, the test results came back. Jim rips open the envelope and yells, “100 percent!!!” He quickly calls his friend Jake to see what he got. Jake answers the phone, sounding very dull. “What did you get on the final exam Jake?” Jim said. “Jake replied by saying, “I didn’t get a single question right.” Jim didn’t even know what he was supposed to say. “Sorry man.” Jim said quietly, as he hung up the phone.

Over the summer, Jim got a letter from his dream school, Princeton. He opened the letter and it read, “Dear Jim, we noticed that you excelled in all of your classes, and you completely aced your final exam, so we want to award you with a full ride academic scholarship. One of our spots opened up recently, and we would like to reward you for all of the work you have been putting in. Congratulations. From, Princeton Tigers.” Jim almost broke down into tears of joy. “THIS IS THE BEST NEWS THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD!!!” He called Jake, to which he picked up angrily. “Right now isn’t a very good time Jim. My scholarship to Princeton was just revoked.”
