The Setting of Mamma Mia

I chose to study the movie “Mamma Mia Here we go again”. This movie has always been one of my favorite movies of all time and part of the reason why is because of the setting. It really sets everything up perfectly with it being set in Greece, and ever since I saw the movie Greece has been my dream vacation. For my final project I wrote a story about living in a new place and it feels like home right away just like in the movie  .https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1XY9nUlpkS4lpxarAspqgQvhh-07g88nDbPc64fJxcS0/edit?usp=sharing

Fear’s Embrace

For my independent study, I decided to study the songs of a band called, Wave To Earth, a South Korean indie rock band. When they compose their songs it usually has a unique sound that combines elements of pop and electronic music. Some of their songs are romantic, heartbreaking, or just about enjoying life. For this project, I analyzed the message(s) that are being conveyed through their songs and their writing style, when composing these songs. For my original piece, I decided to write a short-story, inspired by one of my favorite songs, Seasons, to convey a similar message of being afraid to start a relationship, due to one’s insecurities or problems being in the way.

Mental Health In Bojack Horseman

My project is all about Mental Health. The reason I chose mental health was because it is something I am a huge advocate on, I had and still struggle with my mental health, but my biggest thing is making sure everyone knows they are not alone. I picked the show Bojack Horseman because although it is a cartoon each character has a mental illness in the show, they portray many characteristics of almost every illness in the book, yet it is covered up by the animation and well-written plot of the show. Bojack himself struggles with depression, BPD, and addiction. however, there are moments in the show where he feels alone but yet always has someone to turn to.

Cars

My Slides

I did my independent study on the movie “Cars” and how the setting affects Lightning McQueen’s character development. For my final project I did a short story on Doc Hudson and his background up to the end of the first movie. I have always loved these movies and thought it would be fun to do a project on them.

Young Bucks v.2

My project is based on a wrestling documentary called “Young Bucks”. It’s about a college wrestling team and how they practice, prepare for matches, post matches, etc. Me and my friend Blake Boyer did this about our experience in high school wrestling to show the struggles that wrestlers have to deal with.

Personal narrative- anxiety

My project will be people’s personal stories about their experiences and how they deal with anxiety. I strongly feel this is a topic that needs more attention and needs to be talked about. Mental illnesses are growing in teenagers now more than ever. Anxiety is common in everyone but some people struggle more than they should in a day. I can relate to feeling anxiety quite often.

The Before

I picked Taylor Swift because she has interesting meanings behind her albums and lyrics leaving a interesting message about her past with a song called, “The Last Great American Dynasty” and it’s the before of when taylor supposedly bought the house. She always put reasons and past experiences in her songs that reflect about her.

Lost (Portfolio)

I chose to study the famous artist, SZA because SZA has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard and she has very inspiring lyrics. Each of her songs carry their own message but overall she embraces people to show their true self and navigate the troubles of life or mental health and relationships. Her lyrics are also very relatable and touching to her listeners.
